No time for cardio? You need twenty minutes and a patch of floor. This is the exact morning routine we give clients who swear they have no mornings — done before the coffee brews, no equipment, no gym, no excuses.
The 20-minute ladder
Warm up for three minutes — marching in place, arm circles, leg swings. Then repeat this circuit four times: 40 seconds of bodyweight squats, 40 seconds of incline push-ups (hands on a chair), 40 seconds of reverse lunges, 40 seconds of dead-bugs, resting 20 seconds between moves. Finish with a two-minute walk-around cool-down and one long stretch for hips and chest.
Why it starts tonight, not tomorrow
Morning workouts are won the evening before. Lay out clothes, place shoes by the door, fill the water bottle, set the alarm across the room. Each tiny preparation removes one morning negotiation — and negotiations are where workouts go to die.
Progress it weekly
Week two: add a fifth round. Week three: shorten rests to 15 seconds. Week four: elevate feet on the push-ups. Small, scheduled progressions turn a stopgap routine into genuine conditioning — several of our clients kept only this routine for months and dropped a full resting heart-rate zone.
Consistency beats intensity for the first ninety days. Show up small, show up daily, and let the habit do the heavy lifting.
